Vivian! When we entered Nifty Fifties tonight, I was sure it would be another tasty night, catching up on this week’s happenings with my good-good friend Steve. I knew we would talk, eat spicy cheese fries and bacon cheese burgers, Steve with raw onions, I would have them fried. I expected nothing spectacular…

 

 

 

Oh, but Vivian, you were a breath of fresh pork-beef-lard tainted air! Your quirkiness was nothing short of a Curb Your Enthusiasm guest appearance. You were so goofy and awkward—which to me equals awesome.

 

 

I don’t know which was awesome-er: the time I requested malt for my fries and you brought me a cup filled to the brim with powdered malt intended for a root beer float. Or perhaps, it was how you eagerly came over to make sure we were still enjoying our food just the same, as if it would somehow loose it’s appeal after the third, fifth, or twenty-fifth bite. In the end, I think it was the way you continued to add to the intimacy of our encounter by ending each sentence without words, or even a whisper, just wrapping your lips around phrases in hopes that we know how to read lips as well as any hearing impaired patron. It was like we were best friends tonight, the three of us.

Here’s to Hoodrats November 14, 2008

Mz.Soul’s definition of a hoodrat: a female that is disrespectful to herself, her children, anyone else that they see fit and any worthwhile opportunity. Usually ghetto, tacky (or gaudy), promiscuous and disinterested in anything that could improve their position in spirituality, education or society in general.

Hoodrats vary in catagories, they come in all shape, sizes and colors. They are employed or unemployed. They can be stylish or unkempt…

Now, I said all that to say this: Why is that no matter how gawd awful  females and their attitudes are, hoodrats are so appealing? I’m sure there’s someone out there shaking they’re head “Oh, no! I surely wouldn’t fall for a hoodrat chick!” But I know much better. No one wants to admit it, but as a old friend of mine once said, “good girls get walked on, and bitches get respect”. And this is true.

Hoodrats are nothing new. I’m sure there was a slave name Bonisha Afini picking cotton with her ass in someone else’s mans face. Not even offering her children a sugar tit, even when it was available, keeping it for herself (btw: a sugar tit was like a pacifyier for hungry slave children. it was a small cube of raw sugar wrapped in cheesecloth. mother’s who were breastfeeding would give them to their children when their breast was reserved for massa’s seed). There were hoodrats even in the bible (Delilah). You see them on the bus, tell their children to shut up, because they’re on their cell phones…

What is it about a woman with no class that demands devotion? Do you like hood rats over a classy, educated woman? If so, what is it about a trashy woman that you adore so much? Do you know a hoodrat, if so tell me your best hoodrat encounter.

6. M.O.V.E. Philadelphia: In 1985, city officials produced a warrant for the arrests of certain members of a politically radical community called M.O.V.E. The members lived in a home in West Philadelphia with their children. When the members refused to open their doors, their homes were bombed with C4. In the end, over 50 homes were destroyed and men, women and children were killed. Only two members inside of the home survived. In the end, a court ruled that the officials over did it and they had to shell out over a million dollars to the survivors, but human lives are priceless…I guess we’re better of dead, than to live a life of a non-conformist…BITCHES!!!

7. Dead Beat Daddies: Especially the one’s that stay out of work to avoid child support!

8. People who are mean to service workers: Have you never heard of Karma…Leave a freakin’ tip, for Christ’s sake they only make 2 bucks and hour!!!

Kindred: House of Love (Review) November 2, 2008

I first laid ears on Kindred, the husband and wife powerhouse, about 7 or 8 years ago at Philly’s soul music circuit The Black Lily.  At the time, I was all in love and identified with songs like Far Away and Life is a Rhythm. Well, that relationship has long ago ended, but Kindred The Family Soul have continued to create music for the lover in all of us.

Kindred’s third album House of Love keeps the spirit of good ol’ fashion, slow dance in the kitchen while the fried chicken pops, we got an hour between when the kids go to school and we’re off to work let’s sneak a freak (sophomore album), grown and sexy crown royal on ice, kinda love.

If you ask Mz.Soul, every Kindred album is just like the other, it’s like listening to one long love story pressed to a CD–and I say that in a good way great way, an almost perfect way. As I said, in my first post, Mz.Soul is dreaming up ways to change the world. I’m trying to make this a safer, more humane place to be. Now, I can’t responsibility for this one, but I totally relate to the cause. I’ve always had a gripe against this next plague, but just never had a word for it. Thanks to Diddy (my most favoritest tyrant), I now have a name for it, and can identify it in mere moments.

Oh, we all know punk ass women and men. But with the ecomomy and the government the way it is, it’s more prevelent today than it has been in the last twenty years.

1. Slavery: Souljah Boy recently attributed slave masters to ghetto-fabulousness, and what success black america has been able to attain to them (bitch ass!). The fact is this: the gold and diamonds come from the continent that we were snatched from (dumb ass!). There have been many races and religions bound by slavery and anyone who would enslave another human means that they feel that human life has a price (dumb-bitch ass!), and somehow they have the authority to determine that price. Besides. Souljah Boy, in case you can’t put your 17 year old mind around certain facts, most of black america is broke and hopeless (hopelessness=the #1 killer or black families)–Nearly 1 out of every 4 Black Americans (24%) lives in poverty, the poverty rate for Black Americans is three times the rate for White Americans, black American men earn 71 cents for every dollar earned by their White counterparts–thanks massa (witch ur bitchass)!

There have been many accounts of mass murders, concentration camps, etc. in history. In most recent times, in Sudan, Darfur. The genocide was started by the government to wipe out all the Africans to make room for the Islamic Arabs. BITCHASS TO THE BONE!

3. Pediophillia: Now, I will admit that I’m a freak, but looking at children sexually is wack! Recently, I watched an episode of Oprah where she encouraged America to vote on a bill that would fund ways to to stop child predators. These fools have a underground network and help one another molest children. They even have a kit to guide them through the molestation process according to the age of a child (the baby level instructed in using pencils). NASTY-SICK-BITCHASS.

4. Domestic Abuse: Mz.Soul grew up in a home where bruises were a symbol of love…no matter what age you are–you never forget.

5. Gun Violence in the Hood: aka black on black crime. I mean, what ever happened to good ol’ fashioned fist fights? Are we that afraid of getting our bitch asses whooped, that we can just get it in without a bullet? That’s someone’s brother, father, son, friend, or daughter that you’re shooting at.
